AI Overviews appeared on 97.5% of the category searches Victorious tracked in Q3. The agency says the findings support running SEO and AI search as one program.

For Google’s AI, your organic rankings are the single biggest input.”

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, UNITED STATES, November 4, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Google’s AI Overviews cite pages that rank in Google’s organic top 10 more often than other AI platforms do, according to the Q3 2026 Search Report from Victorious, an SEO and AEO agency focused on AI search visibility for mid-market and enterprise companies. Of the sources AI Overviews cited, 37 percent ranked in the top 10 for the same question. For ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Copilot, the figure ranged from 13 percent to 18 percent.

AI Overviews also appeared on 97.5 percent of the category searches the report ran on Google, up from 72.8 percent in the second quarter, as recorded by the same AI visibility tracking platform in both quarters. Victorious asked 34 category questions buyers ask about a product or service, across five industries (ecommerce and retail, financial services and insurance, healthcare, legal services, and SaaS and technology) and nine AI platforms. Each question ran roughly 30 times in a single collection at the end of September, and again the same way at the end of June.

AI Overviews cited ranking pages at a higher rate than the other platforms on 29 to 33 of the 34 questions, depending on which platform it’s compared against, and in all five industries. Google’s results shifted between searches run minutes apart, so the report presents the overlap figures as directional comparisons between platforms.

“For Google’s AI, your organic rankings are the single biggest input,” said Michael Transon, CEO of Victorious. “We have to keep our ranking strategy and our SEO work in the same plan as our AI search work.”

A brand’s presence on other websites carries more weight with ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Copilot, and those third-party sources also made up most of what AI Overviews cited.

Transon has argued for a single program since the first episode of The Search Signal, Victorious’s podcast, in June. “They’re not two separate disciplines that need two very different programs or two separate budgets,” he said on the show. “It’s the same underlying project, which is building authority for your brand around the topics your buyers care about, measured across two different surfaces.”

The report’s market signals section points to one reason some companies see traffic fall while rankings hold. On Aug. 28, Google confirmed that some AI Overviews now expand to full length automatically, which pushes organic results further down the page. Transon said steady rankings paired with fewer clicks is the pattern that change would produce.

The full Q3 2026 Search Report is available on the Victorious website. Transon walks through the Google findings on episode 19 of The Search Signal.
