CHICAGO, Nov. 2, 2026
Average daily volume, trade count, and number of active trading firms reach record highs
CHICAGO, Nov. 2, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — ElectronX, the energy exchange built for precision risk management in electricity markets, today announced that exchange volume in October exceeded 96,000 contracts (96 GWh), comprising more than 7,000 executed trades across its seven U.S. ISO contract suites.
Average daily volume grew 21% to nearly 4,400 contracts traded (4.4 GWh) per day, with a new daily volume record of nearly 7,400 contracts (7.4 GWh) set on October 20.
“Rising volumes and participation at ElectronX are validation that our API-first platform and granular contract structures are resonating with the U.S. power community,” said Sam Tegel, CEO of ElectronX. “We’ve built ElectronX with an institutional-first approach, prioritizing small-sized, hourly precision and strategic alignment with the intraday price fluctuations now systemic to the U.S. grid system. As renewable energy generators, battery owners, data center operators, and retail electric providers look to optimize their power assets, our market is providing quantitative and actionable solutions to manage their daily risk exposure.”
October exchange statistics, and growth over September results, include:
- Total volume: 96,378 contracts (+27%)
- Average daily volume: 4,381 contracts (+21%)
- Total trade count: 7,041 (+55%)
- Volume growth in ISOs led by: CAISO (+73%), ERCOT (+60%), SPP (+121%), and NYISO (+49%)
ElectronX launched its first product suite in February 2026, and is the first U.S.-regulated, direct access power derivatives exchange and clearinghouse to offer hourly futures and binary options for all tradable U.S. grid systems. Built for systematic strategies operating on short-dated horizons, its low latency infrastructure and direct-access exchange model caters to existing quantitative power desks, renewable energy operators, and grid-edge optimizers implementing programmatic volatility controls amid rising supply and demand pressures.
ElectronX’s growth velocity is accelerating sharply as the U.S. power sector searches for innovative risk management tools to help control the costs associated with AI development and widespread electrification. Following its initial 100,000 lifetime contracts milestone on July 29 (123 trading days from launch), the exchange surpassed 200,000 contracts on September 22 (38 trading days later), and crossed 300,000 contracts on October 23 (just 23 trading days later).
